ABQ Police & KRQE Are Totally On Our Dick.

By Maassive on September 9th, 2009

Back in May, SFR profiled (Cover Story, “Dick“) private eye and security company owner Robb Hamic, who’s been amassing a case against the now-defunct Legit Security on his blog. We rode along with his agents as they staked out Legit’s offices and sat with Hamic in Second Judicial District Court as the company’s principals–Gilbert Baca, Bosque Farms Chief Joe Stidham–faced yet another hearing in a two-year-old fraud case.

KRQE is rather late to the story, but last night’s report (above) does have the Albuquerque Police Department on record confirming Hamic’s allegations:

According to Albuquerque Police Department investigators in 2006 Baca created false accounts, signed company checks over to himself and fabricated employees in some cases using the names of former Skillstorm workers.

“He was using what we term ghost employees, people who worked for the company or had shown interest in the company or just people he knew,” Lt. Harold Prudencio told KRQE told KRQE News 13. “He would use their information, say that they worked and turn in timesheets for these people.”

The Legit Saga Continues

By Maassive on June 17th, 2009

KRQE has a pretty decent follow on the saga of Legit Security, the shady security company we ran surveillance on for our May cover story, “Dick.” Yesterday, the Private Investigators Advisory Board voted on whether to grant a license to the company ICU Security, which many (including Robb Hamic) believe is just Legit under a new name.

New Mexico Licensing & Regulation Department public information officer Teala Kail says she cannot release the names of companies who were discussed in closed session during the meeting. She does confirm that the board moved to issue a “notice of contemplated action” to not license *a* security company. She cannot confirm it is ICU.
